I’ve been really obsessed with habits lately. I recently read The Power of Habitat by Charles Duhigg and The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. These books got me thinking hard about my own habits both good and bad,
We have so many habits and routines that we do everyday without even thinking about them, but these habits affect every part of our lives. When our lives aren’t going the way we want them to whether we’re discontent in our job, unhappy with our health and fitness, or even upset about our relationship status, it’s time to start looking internally and at our own habits.
I find that when I am really evaluating my life and my routines, I like to start at the beginning. For me, starting the morning on a good foot sets the tone for the whole day. In order to set a morning routine you have to decide what you want to accomplish in the morning and how long it is going to take you.
When I first started to cultivate a morning routine it was simple. I started with brushing my teeth, washing my face, getting dressed, drinking hot lemon water, with apple cider vinegar and cayenne, packing my backpack and leaving for work. This was a good starting point for me. It accomplished all of my basic needs, but it left me feeling rushed and with little time to do anything else.
I then came to realization that I needed some me time in morning as well a nutritious breakfast. This lead me to waking up a half hour earlier, so that I had time for a 10 minute meditation, time to read my daily affirmations and time to make my bed.
Think about what’s important to you and what will set your day on the right foot. Is there something that you can do that will allow you to start your morning relaxed and at peace instead of anxious and in a rush. Some ideas include: Some Ideas include

Every person has a different schedule and different things that they would like to accomplish in the morning. The important thing is identifying what you want to accomplish and finding activities that are going to help you start the day feeling relaxed and ready to take on the day. My morning routine is what works for me right now, but it is always subject to change as my work schedule and needs change.
